Versatile Smile Restoration
Wondering what the benefits are of veneer treatment in Oakbrook Dental? Here are just a few of the reasons that veneers are such a great option for smile restoration.
Your veneers will be made out of durable, tooth-like porcelain, so they will look completely natural to others, and they’ll feel just like real teeth when you eat, speak, and chew!
Veneers can easily last 10-15 years or longer, making them one of the most long-lasting methods of smile restoration.
All you need to do is brush twice a day for two minutes, floss once a day, and see Dr. Patel or Dr. Major at Oakbrook Dental for an oral exam and teeth cleaning every six months.
Veneers are typically made out of high-quality porcelain ceramic materials. They are similar to dental crowns, but while crowns cover up your entire tooth, veneers are built to only cover up the front surfaces of your teeth.
After your teeth are trimmed and prepared, you’ll get a set of custom-built veneers that will fit over your teeth perfectly. They’ll be permanently bonded to your teeth, restoring your smile and correcting a wide variety of cosmetic dental issues.
Veneers are one of the most flexible and versatile cosmetic dentistry treatments. They are commonly used to treat gaps between teeth, minor chipping of the teeth, stained and discolored teeth, misshapen teeth, uneven teeth, and even slightly crooked or crowded teeth.
However, they can’t solve major orthodontic issues, such as bite problems or serious issues with the alignment of your teeth. They are also not meant to restore teeth that have been seriously damaged by tooth decay or an oral injury. To see if you’re a good candidate for veneers, schedule a consultation with Oakbrook Dental right away.
It will take you 2 appointments over a period of 2-3 weeks to get your veneers, in most cases. To begin the procedure, Dr. Major or Dr. Patel will clean your mouth and numb the treatment area. Next, they will use a dental drill to remove enamel from each tooth that is receiving a veneer.
This layer of enamel is typically about 0.5mm thick, and it has to be removed to ensure that your new veneers do not add any bulk to your teeth, or affect your bite. Once the teeth have been prepared, Dr. Major or Dr. Patel will take impressions of your teeth using dental putty. Then, you’ll get a set of temporary veneers and you’ll go home.
Your dental impressions will be sent to a dental lab where the technicians will build your permanent veneers out of high-quality porcelain. Then, your veneers will be sent to our office. This process usually takes 2-3 weeks.
Once your veneers arrive at Oakbrook Dental, you’ll come in for your final appointment. Each veneer will be checked to ensure it fits perfectly, then bonded into place permanently using dental adhesive. You’ll leave our office with a brand-new smile.
